Once more the issue of gay marriage is being brought back from the back burner. No surprise here because the November elections are just a few months away and that has been the bread and butter of the Republicans to energize their bigoted, homophobic base. Yes, they will be going to the polls to make known their disgust and dislike of gay people; but so will we and we don’t like homophobia.

Judge Walker Won’t Stay His Prop 8 Ruling! Gay Marriages Can Start August 18th!

Chief Judge Vaughn Walker (N.D. Cal.), who struck down Proposition 8’s ban on gay marriage in California, has denied a motion to stay his judgment pending appeal. This means that same-sex marriages in California can start as soon as August 18th!

Be very vigilant and this time we are not going to let you get away with the crap you dished out during the Prop. 8 in California. This time we are going to denounce any lies, any funds coming from the Mormons and any grandstanding by ultra-conservative politicians.

No, we are not doing guilt anymore; you may try until you are blue in the face but we are standing steadfast, solidly against you and we are a formidable force this time. We refuse to be labeled “an abomination” or “sinners” and in our minds we will never accept any concept that belittles us or renders us inferior, both morally and legally.

Oh, don’t worry you homophobes…you will still be able to discriminate at will, exclude them from your churches, deny them a place in your religion and in your pecking order. That is much the same as what is happening with the abortion issue. It is legal in our country even though there is opposition to it and so many years after ROE VS. WADE you are still fighting it. But sensible people are using common sense and logic and you can’t fight that nor will you be able to push down everyone’s throats your narrow-minded interpretation of the Scriptures.

My advice to Mormons and Evangelicals is to get over it, we are here to stay and we are not going back in the closet any time soon…what is more remarkable is that you will have to live with giving us the same rights everyone else has…because we live in a country where although the majority rules, the minority has rights and you can’t use your concepts of morality based on erroneous interpretations of the Scriptures and force our SECULAR government to accept your definition of marriage.
