IS IT A BIRD, OR A PLANE, NO....IT'S SOME SKINNY GEEZER

Meet Ray Middleton, the first actor to play Superman, way back in 1940. Back then Superman didn't just wear his underpants over his suit. As you can see he took his mum's advice and wore two pairs, over and under. They didn't want the "Man of Steel" catching his death of cold.


We can see Ray here making his appearance at the 1940 World's fair. Perhaps this Superman had a fear of heights, because he needed to hold on to a piece of string to stop himself falling off, bless him.
