The balloon was clearly not big enough to carry away a child, and the man who constructed the balloon, 'Balloon Boy's' father, knew this all along. So he was lying when he said he feared his son had been carried away by the balloon.
"You guys said that we did this for a show," the child blurted out live on CNN.
The CNN host then says "I heard what he said," but fails to ask the father what "show" the boy was talking about, and continues to play along with the reality created by the father.
But what was the father intending to do with that flying saucer shaped balloon? Fake a UFO scare?
UPDATE : The six year old 'Balloon Boy' has now thrown up twice during interviews. Poor kid. This fiasco has gone far enough.
UPDATE, October 19, 2009 : Confirmed. The family were all involved in the hoax, in the hope that if it had been successful they would have a new reality show about their "UFO hunting."
The Larimer County Sheriff is planning to file felony charges against 'Balloon Boy's' parents.
