Here’s some Thursday morning entertainment. It’s apparently a Libyan rebel fighter showing off his skills with an AK-47 (it might actually be an AK-74U). Too bad the weapon just doesn’t want to cooperate. In fact, it hates firing so much, it self destructs after a few rounds. It looks like the poster of this video is, um, pro-Gadhafi. So not too sure how legit the claims are that this is a rebel soldier. It might just be regime propaganda but it’s still entertaining. Enjoy.

The CIA tried to frame Bulgaria for the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II in 1981 to discredit Communism, a new book has claimed.

The U.S. intelligence agency orchestrated the story that the eastern European country's regime was behind the shooting, two journalists suggest.

Their new book says the attempted killing was in fact masterminded by an extreme-right wing Turkish group called the Grey Wolves purely because of their anti-western ideology.

Army Veteran Returns To Afghanistan After Winning $250,000

Army Veteran Returning To Afghanistan Wins $250,000 -- AJC

An Army veteran from Fayetteville won a quarter million dollars in the Georgia Lottery days before his return to Afghanistan.

Gregg Curry, a father of three and a master sergeant with the Third U.S. Army Forces Central Command, bought a winning Cool Cash ticket while stopping to buy a bottle of water with his wife, Mary, lottery officials said Friday.

Curry, 47, returns to Afghanistan Monday. He was home for two weeks from Bagram Airfield, where he's been stationed for seven months. He'll be in Afghanistan another five months.

He told lottery officials that he plans to use his $250,000 to pay bills and take a vacation after his tour.

My Comment: $250,000 is a nice amount, but is it not life changing. I am just curious to know that if he had (instead) won tens of millions .... would he want to go back to Afghanistan? Would you?

He died in a secondhand U.S. military uniform, ambushed by Moammar Kadafi's men as he cleared a road after an airstrike by his new NATO allies.

Aides to Abdul Monem Muktar Mohammed say the Libyan rebel fighter was leading a convoy of 200 cars west of this hotly contested strategic city Friday when a bullet struck him on the right side of the chest. He opened his passenger door and jumped out. A rocket-propelled grenade exploded nearby.

"Don't wait, go," he yelled to his men. Then he got to his feet, staggered a few steps and fell.

My Comment: War always makes strange bedfellows .... a fact that even Abdul Monem Muktar Mohammed realized before he was killed.

WNU Editor: Stories like this is also probably one of the many reasons why the West is hesitant to support the rebels .... the pro-jihadist history of some of their commanders is one that should not makes us feel comfortable or complacent.
