Why NeoCons Hate Rand Paul

Rand Paul says, "I would have voted no on the Iraq War." He also says, in a video posted prominently on his campaign website, that he'll push for formal declarations, with House and Senate votes, before the launch even of wars he might favor. He says that while national defense is the top responsibility of government, conservatives who are serious about reducing waste must be wary of the excesses of the military-industrial complex. Add on criticisms of the Patriot Act and a willingness to cross partisan lines, and you can see why Rand Paul gets Cheney's goat.

What really troubles Cheney and his circle, according to the Cato Institute's David Boaz, is the prospect that a Paul win would begin to crack the false facade of party unity on military intervention. "That's an issue the GOP establishment doesn't want an open debate on," says Boaz, who suggests the neocons "desperately fear that [electing] a conservative anti-interventionist leader on foreign policy just might reveal that a lot of Republicans and conservatives...don't buy the world-policeman foreign policy the Bush/Cheney administration imposed on the GOP."

The NeoCon-controlled Republicans are terrified now of The Tea Party, and they're decidedly nervous that Ron Paul could become the movement's leader. Sarah Palin as a leader of the Tea Party, they could handle her, and through her, most of the movement. But Rand Paul is something else altogether, and much closer to the roots of the Tea Party.

Sarah Palin had nothing to do with the genesis of The Tea Party, but she's successfully glommed onto it and exploited it for everything she can get. And she got plenty. Just like Glenn Beck.

Which is why I keep saying that Fox News is the home of wealthy media elites who con poor Americans into campaigning on their behalf for them to pay less tax, by exploiting their fears and vulnerabilities.

I'm not sure why the US mainstream media have gone nuts over Palin, and promoted her so heavily. What has she really got to offer, besides cliches, fear-mongering and sarcasm? Where exactly are all her ideas?



The Republicans, along with the Democrats, helped by Rupert Murdoch, will do everything they can to prevent the rise of a legitimate and powerful third party in American politics.

Divide and conquer, the strategy that always seems to work.

And they've only just begun.

Palin’s contract, according to Shreeve, who had a look at it, called for her to be paid $100,000 for the event. It also included $18,000 for private jet travel for her and her entourage. Shreeve told me Palin's contract — standard among political stars who make the speaking-circuit rounds — specified what type of private jet she requested for the trip to Nashville. “It was like, she had to have this or that size plane,” Shreeve recalls. “It was like when a rock star comes to town, the contract was that detailed.”

Whatever the Tea Party is now, it was not meant to be anything to do with all that.

Sarah Palin tells the people what they want to hear and gets the expected reaction. She all but admits she made sure the notes she wrote on her hand would become a media freakout, and important talking point for interviews.

But in the video below she also discusses the Tea Party, without any of the mockery the movement as a subject usually draws on late night talk shows. Palin admits the Tea Party is a threat to the Republicans. No doubt the Republicans are hearing her message loud and clear.



The Tea Party, as it popularly known now, only started a year ago, and if not already, then soon enough millions of Americans will proudly claim to be Tea Partiers.

A third major political party in the United States, as the country heads into the chaos of years of mass unemployment and the loss of the 'easy credit' tens of millions of Americans had been using for years to pay for groceries, fuel, heat, could become a reality.

If so, presumably the Democrats and Republicans will quietly team up to smash the Tea Party movement.

The Tea Party's best bet would be to mostly agree on a set of principles and policies, debated publicly, and run as independents everywhere. It will be harder for Republicans and Democrats to absorb or destroy them that way, they will need to picked off one by one, instead of a full frontal assault.

Elections later this year are going to be very interesting.
