Obama Official - "I've Ended The War On Drugs"

There's plenty more to be said on this, later, but for now the main details from the Irish Examiner :
The United States has "ended its war on drugs" and is now moving its focus to prevention and treatment, the US drugs chief has told top Irish drug officials.

President Barack Obama’s drugs adviser Gil Kerlikowske held a series of meetings yesterday with Drugs Minister Pat Carey, Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy and Department of Justice secretary general Sean Aylward.

The former police chief said the US had formally ended its much heralded – and hugely expensive – "war on drugs".

"We’ve talked about a ‘war on drugs’ for 40 years, since President Nixon. I ended the war," said Mr Kerlikowske, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

Barack Obama's face moments before he went to take the oath of office.

This is a detail from a larger image, which reveals Obama is actually looking at himself, in a mirror.

As I've said here before, regardless of the intent, the official White House photography of the Obama administration has been excellent, sometimes intimate. occasionally surreal and often surprisingly revealing.

Here are a bunch of detail grabs from larger official White House photos :

Carbon Tax Like A Bloodbank For Financial Vampires

By Darryl Mason

From @RWDB :
Introducing 2013 US Secretary of State Michelle Malkin and President Sarah Palin.

Stranger things have happened. In mid-2007, Hilary Clinton and here crew werel laughing it up at the idea of Barack Obama reaching the White House.

Sarah Palin (or whoever writes op-eds under her name) in The Washington Post :

In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to "restore science to its rightful place." But instead of staying home from Copenhagen and sending a message that the United States will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices, the president has upped the ante. He plans to fly in at the climax of the conference in hopes of sealing a "deal." Whatever deal he gets, it will be no deal for the American people. What Obama really hopes to bring home from Copenhagen is more pressure to pass the Democrats' cap-and-tax proposal. This is a political move. The last thing America needs is misguided legislation that will raise taxes and cost jobs -- particularly when the push for such legislation rests on agenda-driven science.

Without trustworthy science and with so much at stake, Americans should be wary about what comes out of this politicized conference. The president should boycott Copenhagen.

I think some of Obama's campaign contributors would be very, very upset if he did that.

It would be much easier to think that the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference was a positive thing for the future of the planet if there weren't already so many carbon speculators slobbering over themselves at the riches they believe will flow their way once a Global Carbon Tax has been installed.

Money from the richest nations to the poorest nations to introduce new methodologies of energy production will make a difference, and will eventually get cheap electricity to those who have never had it, but there is going to be a lot of carbon tax and carbon market vampires sucking away at all that money, when there is no need for any of them to be anywhere near that development cash at all.

Magical Obama Of Doomsday

Here's the URL for Fox News story on Obama visiting China's Great Wall :

'Magical Obama', eh?

And here's how the photo of Obama at the Great Wall was categorised :

O(bama)Wall Doomsday?

While you might instantly think Fox News hypes 'Obama Is Doom' propaganda even in URLs and jpg file names, 'doomsday' appears to be a weird codeword choice for image sizes.

But Magical Obama?

Obowma Strikes Again!

Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs looks at this photo of President Barack Obama greeting Japanese emperor Akihito....

....and wonders if Obama is now purposely trying to fuck with the minds of American conservatives :
I have to wonder if Obama was deliberately yanking the right’s chain; he must have known they’d freak out, after all of the silliness over his bow to Saudi King Abdullah.
That would be this bow :

Yes, American conservatives much prefer a president to deal with the Saudis like this :

Just one of the charming comments at Hot Air :

Someone needs to give this half white half wit a swift kick in his boney black ass and remind him that Americans, especially Presidents of the United States, bow to no man, woman or beast!

But what about thechildren? Will America's enemies be emboldened and the country shamed if the president bows to mere children?

UPDATE : The majority of Americans have no problem with their president bowing to a Japanese emperor :

Respondents were asked: "When the president of the United States is traveling overseas, do you think it is appropriate for him to bow to a foreign leader if that is the country's custom or is it never appropriate for the president to bow to another leader?"

The numbers: Appropriate 67%, Never appropriate 26%. Even a majority of Republican respondents were okay with the bow, by a 53%-40% margin. Democrats weigh in at 84%-9%, and independents 62%-30%.
