THAT IS WHY THERE IS NO URGENCY ON THEIR PART TO SIGN THE TREATY
Who are we kidding here? Most of these Teahadist-Republicans are right-wing Evangelicals…I wouldn’t even call them Christians. In my opinion, they are adhering to a very sick ideology: that one that tells them that the end of days is near.
You see, they actually want this to occur; they are looking forward to judgement day because they think that they are “SAVED”. In that, they are no different than the radical Muslim who straps a bomb to his body or flies an airplane into a building…hoping that this last act of sacrifice will gain him martyrdom and a free ticket to paradise.
So when we are talking about avoiding a nuclear confrontation, they could care less, there is no urgency on their part to spare the world from a fiery end…they will be more than happy to be evaporated in a mushroom cloud as long as they can validate their beliefs…but what good do those beliefs are if there is nobody left to actually ascertain the veracity of the prophecies?
Never mind that five out of the six former Secretaries of State still alive are speaking in favor and urging Congress to sign the fucking thing…there are still those opposing…some for political gain (putting partisanship above family, country and humanity) and still a bunch because they see it as an opportunity for prophecy to come true.
And of course, these religious-political fanatics are perfectly ok with that outcome as long as a Kenyan, black, Muslim socialist is not installed in the White House.
