DOA OR AGONIZING A PAINFUL DEATH, DEMOCRACY AS WE KNOW IT WILL SOON DIE
That quaint philosophy the ancient Greeks fabricated inspired the birth of a very powerful movement and the birth of a nation…several nations. The idea was so brilliant that more than a hundred countries around the world incorporated most or all of many of its core values and concepts.
Arguably, America did a lot of the public relations and the missionary work on behalf of the concept of democracy; even made a feeble attempt at putting it into practice ourselves; but soon found that greed, ignorance and prejudice took precedent over the concept of democracy.
In the long struggle to make it work, America went from only granting a voice to those who were the rich land owners, then later to include other minorities like the non-property owners, blacks, women, still gays about to gain full citizenship to this day; but we have to admit that we have gone full circle: the business of governing is now left to the land-owners of today…the very rich and the corporations and the other 98% of the population remains voiceless and irrelevant.
A “crown of thorns” adorns the head of our dear lady the Statue of Liberty…why?
