Interesting news coming for all owners of Samsung Galaxy S, according to leaked on the web, Samsung Germany has confirmed the 'update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread coming for the month of March.

In all likelihood, Samsung will maintain its TouchWiz user interface, and then from the perspective of graph should change little. The new features are characterized by intrinsic functions such as Gingerbread, the new system for selecting text, the new keyboard, better battery management, VOIP, etc..

We just have to wait.

In a thoughtful and much-commented piece hosted by laden ladenfam on Friday ("Pioneers, Pirates and Parvenus – IP v Innovation", here), Gwilym Roberts -- who attended one of the Hargreaves Review meetings last week -- made some valuable observations about the "problem" of the IP system being not so much the system itself but the failure of funding to back innovative projects. To this, Mary Ellen Field adds some highly pertinent comments of her own:

"It is very sad that there was little input from SMEs at the meeting last week, but not at all surprising. SMEs are trying to keep their heads above water when the banks won't lend and they are often fighting off attacks on their IP from counterfeiters and larger well funded companies with clever aggressive lawyers. They are in my opinion effectively excluded from the Hargreaves report by virtue of the makeup of the panel and the language used. It might also be because they think IP Law in the UK is fine and that they don't have the time nor the money to navel-gaze

I tried very hard to be allowed to attend that session this week and I believe I had a lot to offer. I am not a lawyer or an academic but I have been successfully managing, protecting and exploiting my clients' IP from a commercial perspective for thirty years, working with lawyers throughout the world. I wrote to my MP, to the IPO and to Prof Hargreaves himself but had no luck despite my MP writing to Baroness Wilcox on my behalf [laden ladenfam would love to see more involvement from MPs in general -- the All Party Parliamentary IP Group seems to have gone to ground again -- and from the IP Minister Baroness Wilcox]. I have finally managed to get a slot on Monday afternoon [today!] at the IP Review Surgery Event

The fact is that SMEs are not usually populated by lawyers and academics, the wording in the review document suggests that unless you are a lawyer or an academic, your opinions count for nothing. Professor Hargreaves states that the submissions must be "evidential", this word alone would put any hard working SME off. Perhaps as an academic Professor Hargreaves does not want case studies from SMEs who may well be able to shed great light on this issue. Perhaps SMEs are intimidated by the language of the Review document. Surely if the government or the panel wanted to know the problems facing innovators, they would have put an innovator on the panel. At least he or she would have spoken the same language as the SMEs, also I don't think there are any women on the panel

There are three major problems facing innovative individuals and SMEs in the UK and IP framework is not one of them.

1. The lack of people willing to invest in startups. Our banks won't consider lending to you and the turnover you need to attract Private Equity investors grows each year. Added to this is the fact that investors in this country usually require 100% security over the innovator's IP, and too often the founder finds himself removed from his creation if things don't move as fast as the investors require. As the banks have done away with the concept of bank managers who took it upon themselves to understand their client's business, there is no one to talk to at our banks who knows what you are talking about. If you doubt me, trying explaining the concept of a royalty stream to your local Barclays business branch [laden ladenfam entirely endorses this. He has been hearing it from small innovative businesses since the 1980s].

2. The catastrophic consequences of financial failure in the UK. Our laws relating to financial failure are so draconian that a failure when young can prevent you ever being able to raise funds in the future and even if you manage to start up again and be successful, whenever you are mentioned in the media no matter how successful you are even decades later you will be referred to as "Bill Smith the former bankrupt" In the United States failure is regarded as a part of the learning curve unless you have intentionally defrauded people. That is seen as capitalism in action [Strange how, at the bottom level, banks are so reluctant to take even the smallest of risks, while they seem to throw caution to the winds when it comes to buying subprime mortgage portfolios and investing in financial paper of which they have manifestly little understanding]

3. Predatory behaviour by larger British firms, particularly retailers with very scary lawyers. The costs to an SME to take on a large company that the SME believes has infringed his IP rights are simply out of the question for most SMEs. It is possible of course to arrange IP litigation insurance but that requires an opinion from counsel before the insurance company will commit. The cost of this can be prohibitive to a small company or individual. Even if you can force the big company to back down enforcement can become a full time job [If evidence is needed here, Hargreaves can speak to ACID, which can provide some real examples]

Perhaps it is because I am Australian but I get extremely annoyed when the British do whatever the Americans tell them to do. It drives me nuts. Who cares what Google wants? They don't care about innovation in the UK, they just want it made easier for them to make money here. This UK has never been short of innovators and it isn't now, it's just extremely bad at supporting its innovators, forcing many to move abroad or giving up their innovations for next to nothing because it's not polite to fight back. I have several innovative British SMEs as clients, they export throughout the world they use the Internet as an integral part of their businesses. Sadly most of them could not raise funds here and have raised them abroad from foreign investors who take a long term view".

Let me see if I get this correctly…the will of the American people as opposed to the Teahdist-Republican agenda.

Do we understand what the Teahadist-Republicans want? How about what the American people want?

What I gather is that they want:

1. Social Security reform that guarantees the current level of benefits, alters someone else's, and cuts everyone's Social Security taxes to boot, perhaps

2. A world-class national infrastructure that can be built and maintained without tax dollars.

3. A balanced budget that doesn't sacrifice any of the government programs – especially the sacred military-industrial complex and the various old age benefits – that we like, while maintaining ridiculous low tax rates for the very rich and the corporations.

4. Clean air without pollution controls, clean water with a neutered and underfunded EPA, and businesses that do socially responsible things without any regulation whatsoever like BP and Halliburton.

5. Consumer goods at “Made in China” prices that create high-paying jobs in America and these are manufactured with the highest degree of quality and craftsmanship..

6. Giant trucks and SUVs that drive like Formula One race cars, look cool, fit into small parking spaces, cost under $18,000, and get the fuel economy of a Toyota Prius.

7. Complete freedom and complete security at the same time; but not for Blacks, Latinos or gays and women must relinquish control of their own bodies to government..

8. An America that acts like a swaggering, sociopathic asshole on the global stage yet is beloved by all the nations of the world. We must maintain that arrogance and apologize to nobody.

9. Wars against every enemy, real or imagined, all of the time, with no U.S. casualties and no effect on the budget and doing it without a formal declaration of war.

10. Incredibly rich and rewarding professional lives while supporting our employers' right to do whatever they want to us without recourse while blaming the LABOR UNIONS for any sputtering of the economy.

11. A vibrant, consumption-based U.S. economy with good jobs for anyone willing to look for one resulting from free trade policies that encourage money and capital flows to cheap labor markets. They do have a lot of job openings at Burger King.

12. A highly educated workforce produced by a school system that requires no tax dollars to achieve excellence, students who have no interest in learning, and a virulently anti-intellectual society. Complete denial of science and a perverted revisionist history course.

13. Closed borders and an endless supply of cheap labor to keep prices low.

14. To buy whatever we want irrespective of what we can afford while maintaining the drumbeat of personal responsibility.

15. Health care that is cheap, superior, and readily available to them without the danger of the same being enjoyed by anyone they deem undeserving. The enhancement of the stranglehold of Health Insurance Companies so they can continue to milk the American cow and retain their parasite status.

I don’t know how all this can be accomplished if you start with the premise that GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM and it can’t do anything right. It couldn't be any clearer: we want a government that will resolve every problem we currently face with solutions that require no effort, no sacrifices, and no money. And I have no doubt that we have elected a group of people brave enough to promise exactly that. Where are the jobs Mr. Boehner? …He says: What if a few million people lose their jobs? SO BE IT.

Let's be honest, the method by which Apple has decided to push on to deal with notifications IOS is pretty pitiful. Of course, the notifications allow you to stay (albeit virtually) always connected to the network without a true multitasking, but it would be nice to see all the notifications received in one place?




The simple answer is: you can not. The problem of the Apple system becomes evident when you receive more than five notifications simultaneously. Obviously, the most recent being in plain sight, but to access the earlier notifications must first get rid of all the above, one by one.

In recent months, several concepts have been shown to improve the system for Apple, and one of the more interesting you can see in the video posted at the beginning of this article. The solution is now on Cydia, and it's called MobileNotifier, available for free download.

The teak allows you to display notifications on a toolbar at the top (in true Apple style) just under the bar with the time. Tap the bar allows you to set and work on notifications.

Apple may have a few days iOS 5 (during the event on March 2). It would be nice to see a new notification system for the next IOS software.

The file has a weight of 3.5 Gb, so the time of the download depends on your connection speed. It 's a file with a. Dmg, then an image file that, when opened, will give the opportunity to install the stuff on your Mac do not think I need to explain how you install a program on the Mac, but this installation requires a quite some time.

At the end of the operation Xcode and iOS  SDK installed. Not find them in the Applications folder of your account, but you must enter your HD, where the Developer folder in the Applications folder and then find the programs installed, the latest being Xcode. Clearly, faster ways to start the application are or to create an icon on the dock or to press the search button on the toolbar of the finder and type in Xcode, which will be immediately found.

The American Uprising : Week One

If The Police & Army Won't Help Quell Protests, They'll Send In The Robots

Extraordinary scenes from Wisconsin last week showing the birth of the anti-austerity/USUncut movement. An occupation of the Wisconsin State Capitol was supposed to be ended by police, but a police union representative instead announced hundreds of police would be joining the occupation.



During the first UKUncut protests, British students chanted at police who were beating them, "Your Jobs Are Next!" American cops seem to already know this.

So who busts an occupation when the police number themselves as occupiers? The Army? Or the Homeland security teams being trained by Blackwater/XE?

And so the American Uprising begins.

MSNBC :

A crowd estimated at more than 70,000 people on Saturday waved American flags, sang the national anthem and called for the defeat of a Wisconsin plan to curb public sector unions that has galvanized opposition from the American labor movement.

In one of the biggest rallies at the state Capitol since the Vietnam War, union members and their supporters braved frigid temperatures and a light snowfall to show their displeasure.

The mood was upbeat despite the setback their cause suffered earlier this week when the state Assembly approved the Republican-backed restrictions on union collective bargaining rights over fierce Democratic objections.

There was no violence. Protesters described the occupation as having "a party atmosphere." The better the party, the more peaceful the protests, the more people will join them.

And over the weekend, solidarity protests broke out across the country :

Rallies were held across the country Saturday to support thousands of protesters holding steady at the Wisconsin Capitol in their fight against Republican-backed legislation aimed at weakening unions.

Union supporters organized rallies from New York to Los Angeles in a show of solidarity as the protest in Madison entered its 12th straight day and attracted its largest crowd yet: more than 70,000 people. Hundreds banged on drums and screamed into bullhorns inside, while others braved frigid weather and snowfall during a rally that spilled into city streets.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker has introduced a bill that includes stripping almost all public workers, from librarians to snow plow drivers, of their right to collectively bargain on benefits and work conditions.

The mega-wealthy will be hoping that the people will fight amongst themselves, squabbling over economic scraps, protesters clashing with counter-protesters, lots of TV magnet violence, maybe some shootings, to keep the people divided, at each other' throats, instead of the 98% turning as one towards the top 2% and leaving them with no choice but to give up their wealth in this age of austerity.

But it's not going to be easy to blackmail, badname and breakdown these protesters. This time. It's not students at a G20 rally, this is mums & dads, teachers, police, firefighters, people who hold communities together. When they are threatened, communities feel threatened and those who never dreamed of protesting anything will spill out of their homes and into the streets.

Or into the State Capitol.

The mainstream media will learn quickly if they want the precious news site clicks and the YouTube views, they will have to deal with America Uprising fairly, if not be biased in their favour. Why go to CNN to see the protest you attended misrepresented or flat-out falsified when you can celebrate your day of action with your new revolutionary friends on Twitter, Facebook or look for yourself in the dozens of YouTube clips already uploaded by the time you get home from the rally?

It's going to be very hard indeed to portray this uprising as "fat privileged unionists getting rich off poor taxpayers". They're already trying to pump that puppy, but it's not working, unless you think Fox News is reality.

At least 15 million Americans who want to work are without jobs, more than 45 million need food stamps to survive. The old Left-Right distraction game doesn't seem to be working, it's harder than ever to slip agent provocateurs into calm protests to incite violence, particularly when governors admit this is a standard tactic, and the police, the firefighters and paramedics (who are themselves exempt, for now anyway, from being stripped of their collective bargaining power) are more than likely to remain on the side of the protesters. As we see in the above video, they are protesters.

Good thing the Pentagon has been live-field testing all 'non-lethal' crowd control weapons and all those unmanned aerial and ground vehicles in Iraq and Afghanistan then, eh?

If the National Guard and the US Army refuses to fire on their own people when called to do so by state governors, they can always roll out the robots.

How About a Newt Gingrich - Allen West Ticket for November 2012?

Newt Gingrich is such a loose cannon. He says three things I love and then completely decimates conservatism with the fourth. At a Palm Beach County fundraiser, Gingrich said if he wins the Republican nomination for president he will "strongly consider" a Floridian as his running mate. He specifically mentioned new Republican Congressman Allen West, an American hero by every measure and a true conservative, which Gingrich is not.

When West was asked about the Gingrich statement he said this:

“I have to pray about it and I have to clear it with my wife and two daughters,” he added. “I never thought that seven years ago when I retired here I’d be a United States Congressman.”

I would come close to voting for whomever puts West on the ticket for Vice President, because I believe he will hold that person's feet to fire. The other bonus is, I would have the opportunity to vote for West for president in 2020.
