Gary North: Meet "Scary Gary"

The late Rousas John Rushdoony and his son-in-law Gary North, were members of the Council for National Policy. [1][2] If you recall, Dominion Theology comes out of Christian Reconstructionism, a fundamentalist creed that was propagated by Rushdoony. Although North was later personally estranged from his father-in-law, he has carried forward Rushdoony’s Calvinist Reconstructionist philosophy and teachings, and further maintains that Christians and Christian churches must become involved in Dominionist-type political activism. [3] 

The significance of being a CNP members is that they have powerful ties with the CIA and the Council on Foreign Relations, not to mention association with high-level Freemasonry for which many believe is related to those bringing in world government. 

A Little About Gary North
Long before North and Rushdoony publicly parted ways, North had already aggressively sought out political influence. In 1976 he worked in Washington, D.C. as a research assistant for Texas Representative Ron Paul. After Paul’s defeat, North wrote a warning to Christians that Washington was a cesspool that can’t be changed overnight. He turned his back on national politics and began developing practical tactics for churches to deploy at the grassroots level.

Unlike Rushdoony, who focused most of his attention on ideas, North worked to pull together Charismatic and Pentecostal congregations in the South. It was in an effort to fuse Reconstructionism’s grassroots activism with committed congregations.

North believes that when American society collapses under the combined weight of massive foreign debt, military overstretch, and internal decadence, he hopes to have a network of churches ready to step into the breech, apparently to take dominion. In preparation, he has written book after book aimed at educating Christians on how to live debt free, avoid electronic surveillance, and develop the skills necessary for surviving economic collapse. “In short, North’s version of Reconstructionism blazed a path for the militia and Christian survivalist groups of the 1990s to follow.” [4]

Y2K
Prior to the year 2000, North predicted that the Y2K computer glitch would lead to the total collapse of the global economy, leaving Christians in the United States to pick up the pieces. North's articles and rhetoric eventually earned him the nickname "Scary Gary."

North's believes in a fusion of libertarianism and postmillenarian eschatology, and it is sharply different than Rushdoony's view. Rushdoony envisioned the church and family as two separate, exclusive spheres. For Rushdoony, the family is the primary social unit while the church represents a limited ecclesiastical organization of believers in Christ. Conversely, North believes men owed their allegiances to a church first and the family second. [3]

Theonomy
The books North has written and co-authored range with some interesting titles, and they obviously reflect their contents, as well as his ideas. In the book Christian Reconstuctionism, he said,

"In winning a nation to the gospel, the sword as well as the pen must be used."

Dominion theology, is a type of theonomy. Theonomy posits that the Biblical Law is applicable to civil law, and theonomists propose Biblical law as the standard by which the laws of nations may be measured, and to which they ought to be conformed.

Theonomists support public policy changes in accord with Biblical principles, but see those changes as coming about as a result of the conversions to Christianity in the coming days. Many seek a future earthly "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity (Dominion Theology). They cite the numerous scripture passages referring to God's collective judgment upon unrighteous nations, and God's blessing upon those rulers and societies heeding His Word. The presence or absence of Christian values may profoundly influence the rise and fall of nations.[4]

Civil Law today stems from Biblical Law, but the punishment if far more harsh than what exists today. In accordance with Theonomy, Sabbath breakers are put to death, children are stoned for certain offenses, but at the same time they feel it protects the accused.

ELECTION DAY REFLECTIONS

AS I OBSERVE ALL THIS HORRIBLE SCENARIOS AND I CAN ONLY FEEL DISAPPOINTMENT AND FOREBODDING.

At the ripe age of 65 my own mortality becomes more ominous. All the things I used to hope for, dream about and expect did not materialize. Realistically speaking I have but 5, 10 maybe 15 more years to live and every new development, every event brings disappointment and frustration.

Gone are my expectations of “LEAVING THIS WORLD A LITTLE BETTER THAN I FOUND IT” which has been my mantra throughout my life. I have come to the sad realization that instead I am leaving my children and grandchildren a place I wouldn’t want to live in myself.

Instead of making progress the great country that I adopted as my own seems to get more retrograde by the day. Instead of that egalitarian nation of opportunity and fairness I observe how it has turned into a nation of haves and have nots.

I have seen how instead of more enlightened and intelligent individuals America has opened wide open the doors to Fundamentalist-Evangelicals that when, not if, given the chance will turn our country into a theocracy. It wasn’t good enough that they could come to my door on a regular basis, twice, thrice a week to peddle their ignorance and superstition. Emboldened and empowered by a greedy political agenda the Fundamentalists and Evangelicals want power and are obtaining it.

The very concept of DEMOCRACY is in peril if not altogether disappearing as the decimated middle class no longer has an effective voice in its own governance. The super rich and the corporations have made sure that is not going to happen.

it's already clear that this week's election is profoundly important. The forces of small-"d" democracy are up against a cabal of ultra-powerful financiers who, in an unending quest for greater wealth and power, have drawn upon the ugliest impulses and most corrupt political forces in our society.

What my legacy and that of my contemporaries will be is a divided society; a racist, xenophobic and homophobic society. It is no longer a country that admires intellectual accomplishments, scientific pursuits and values meritocracy. It is an America of WASPHs that will not bulge one inch to allow for the country to go forward with progress and embracing diversity.

I have resigned myself to leaving my children and grandchildren a country that is in the hands of an oligarchy of super rich and corporations and in the control of a political party that is inherently evil because of its askew ideology that places more importance on greed and profits than it does human beings.

US Supreme Court to hear Stanford v Roche patent fight: Yesterday the US Supreme Court justices agreed to hear Stanford University's claim against Roche Holding AG in respect of patents for methods of testing the effectiveness of AIDS treatments by measuring the HIV concentration in blood plasma. Scientists at Stanford created the invention while under a contract to promise to assign the inventions to the university. However, one of the inventors, Professor Mark Holodniy, had also, prior to the invention, actually assigned his rights in future inventions to Cetus (now Roche). Stanford filed a patent application and demanded a royalty from Roche for their use of the patent. The case reached the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (the appeals court where all the appealed patent cases go to from the federal district courts) who held that Roche was not liable for patent infringement because they held ownership rights derived from Holodniy's assignment. In their appeal to the Supreme Court, Stanford are arguing that because they were beneficiaries of federal funding for the research, under Sections 200-212 of the Bahy-Dole Act their rights trump that of Roche. The university's question to the Supreme Court reads as follows:

Whether a federal contractor university's statutory right under the Bayh-Dole Act, 35 U.S.C. §§ 200-212, in inventions arising from federally funded research can be terminated unilaterally by an individual inventor through a separate agreement purporting to assign the inventor's rights to a third party.

The US Department of Justice (DoJ) filed an amicus curiae brief in support of Stanford's writ and argue that the Bahy-Dole Act does indeed trump the general proposition that ownership of a patent vests first with the inventor. This case will be a somewhat obscure but important case for university and federally funded research institutions. UK MP to "bang heads" of ISPs and music industry: The UK Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, Ed Vaizey, (picture, left)has called for a joint meetin between music industry and ISP representatives to progress the implementation of the Digital Economy Act (DEA). Readers will note that the crucial piece to this legislative nightmare is Ofcom's final "Initial Obligations Code", which is still missing. Ofcom received a further three month extension for the Code in September to allow for consultation about its costs provisions with the EU. Judicial review of the DEA applied for by BT and TalkTalk is expected any time. For more information see this report from MusicWeek. Apple sues Motorola: This Kat has just given up trying to follow who is suing who in the mobile patent wars (see previous posts here). As of Friday, Apple has again gotten into the mix by filing two complaints (here and here) in the the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin against Motorola for infringement of a number of patents of its android handsets. The patents, for the most part, are for touchscreen technology. Motorola, maybe anticipating the descending cloud of Apple, filed four separate complaints against Apple as well as applying to the court to invalidate over 20 iPhone patents for want of novelty. It hasn't been a good month for Motorola who was on the receiving end of another lawsuit from Microsoft earlier last month. For more information see this report in the Wall Street Journal and CNet.

Court of Appeal Judgment Alert! Mr Justice Kitchen, sitting in the Court of Appeal with Lord Justice Jacob and Longmore, dismissed the appeal in the case of Softlanding Systems Inc v KDP Software Limited and Unicom Systems Inc ([2010] EWCA Civ 1172) last week. The case was on appeal from Mr Justice Wilcox of the Technology and Construction Court for England and Wales (see previous 1709 blog post by IPKat Jeremy). This Kat has not had an opportunity to digest the judgment, but there will be a full IPKat report on the judgment soon!

About a week ago my cousin who lives abroad and owns a Saab automobile asked me to get some prices and availability on some car parts so he sent me an e-mail with the name of the part and the part number. When I made the inquiry to several places that sell these I just copied and pasted the information he sent me.

Wouldn’t you know it, one of the respondents sent me back the request asking for an English translation. Mind you the only words that were different were: “transmisión and partes”. The numbers for these parts are the same in both languages with a variation in spelling of course. What I would like to know is how different the words are in English that this Tea Bagger xenophobe could not understand.

Mind you, in this case I am the customer and as they say, the customer is always right but put that aside and think that this asshole is willing to forfeit the opportunity of making some profit over his askew concept that everyone should speak English.

Chances are this ignoramus didn’t even finish the 7^th grade and he is allergic to eñes and accents…I can imagine what would have happened had my cousin sent me the request in French with a Ç the son of a bitch would have gone into convulsions as he embarked on an acute attack of apoplexy.

If we really think about it; maybe we should even change our numbering system…after all, the numerals we used were given to us by Arabs and aren’t they the ones who attacked us on 9/11? So that 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. should be replaced by:

Or something clever like that. The way I felt was that next this asshole was going to ask me for my citizenship papers.

And don't think these people are not serious or on the level...I knew of a Libertarian turned Tea Bagger now and he told me he was so against government and the post office that he wrote zip codes in Roman numerals.

YES, WE WERE TOO BUSY AND CAUGHT UP IN THE MOST DIVISIVE AND VITRIOLIC OF ALL THE ELECTIONS WE HAVE SEEN IN THE HISTORY OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY OF OURS TO EVEN NOTICE.

Brazil in the meantime went to the polls yesterday and elected Dilma Rousseff to be the next President of Brazil. Over 56 million voters cast their ballots in an unprecedented turn out.

DEATH AND MISERY ON FACEBOOK.

This is Alexandra Tobias from Florida USA. Alexandra is the first Facebook murderer. If you have a farm on Facebook, be warned.
Last week Alexandra was busy ploughing and sowing on her Farmville cyberspace property when her three year old son Dylan interrupted her by having the cheek to cry for attention in the real world. In order to shut him up she shook him to death, so she could get back to her game.


Although there are no statistics on Facebook addiction (FAD) it isn't an actual medical diagnosis. Psychiatrists say they're seeing more people who've crossed the line from social networking to social dysfunction. Problems arise when people ignore family and work because they find Facebook a more enjoyable place to spend time than the real world.


Like any drug that can mess you up, you have to ask yourself the following questions:
TOLERANCE-Are you spending more and more time on Facebook than you used to just to get your buzz?
COLD TURKEY- When you are forced to stop or reduce usage do you get grumpy, anxious or think obsessively about what is written on your wall?
MISERY LOVES COMPANY- Have you reduced social or recreational activities and have moved them on to Facebook. Have you stopped answering phone calls and e-mails because you want to be contacted through Facebook?
MISSING TIME-Do you spend 20 hours or more every week on Facebook?
BAD COMPANY- Do you have friends who you don’t have any idea who they are and are you telling them far too much about yourself and your real family and friends?


If your answer is yes to these questions, maybe you have got a problem, so look up some of the self-help sites.


Luckily we don't have that problem in our house. Whenever I want to speak to Mrs Grumpy all I have to do is phone someone to put a message on her wall and I have her undivided attention.
