LATINOS HAVE TO BE CONTENT WITH GETTING THE CRUMBS

ONCE AGAIN LATINOS HAVE TO TAKE A BACK SEAT TO OTHER “MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES”

I don’t know if anybody has noticed that Latino concerns and issues have been put on the back burner by the Obama administration. Crucial and important issues like the Arizona “SHOW ME YOUR PAPERS” law and Immigration Reform are not going to be dealt with anytime soon. Politicians like Tancredo and Arizona Governor Brewer continue to spew their hatred and make Hispanics into monsters who decapitate the poor Arizona border farmers.

It seems like the building of this Muslim center and the anti-Muslim sentiment in the country have taken out all the oxygen out of the air allowing for the Latino concerns to be relegated to wimpy embers. It is a fact and we have to deal with this…it is once again showing us Latinos that we don’t figure very high on the scale of priorities for this nation…we are not important enough to go after this Arizona abomination as the odious and vitriolic racist law that it is.

We are concerned that because of these issues the general perception through America is that Hispanics are causing the problem and that because we have been made into the escape goats of everything from unemployment and low wages to the increase in crime and our presumed involvement in the drug trade that we will not be able to see comprehensive Immigration Reform any time soon.

In the meantime, we Latinos face untold discrimination and misery. The “They are taking away my America crowd” is relegating us to a second class or even a status of undesirables. How much longer are we going to have to wait to be considered important enough to embark on fixing these inequities and injustices?

PRE-ELECTIONS SOUR GRAPES

GO AHEAD, MEASURE THE DRAPES

America: You asked for it and you got it. Great gains for Republicans mean only one thing: the demise of DEMOCRACY and the precipitous decline of the great American nation.

Do I sound like “SOUR GRAPES”? You bet, and you are right. I can’t see any advantages or any progress to follow this defeat for Progressives. But rest assured that if you are measuring the drapes the time may come when just like in “GONE WITH THE WIND” Scarlet O’Hara had to cut them up to make herself a dress. You may have to wear those drapes you are measuring you fucking Teahadist-Republicans.

What is the cause of all this? Very simple: fear and disinformation, lies and vitriolic rhetoric; it all worked for the Republicans. Starting with the disruption of Town Hall meetings and displaying their contempt for civil discourse and ending with all the negative ads which have been funded with unlimited funds, most of which anonymous and secret. We can also thank those ACTIVIST Supreme Court Justices for their decision to give corporations and even foreign government the chance to alter the will of the people of America.

Enjoy it because as things will get worse; and they will get worse following two more years of obstructionism and sabotage against our President; if you think Obama had it difficult in the past two years just you wait for the next two. And if you think that a win in 2012 is going to fix things; you are so out of touch with reality because beginning with a Sarah Palin Presidency we will also begin the kamikaze dive into chaos and failure; Rhett would have summed it up by saying: “FRANKLY MY DEAR, I DID GIVE A DAMN”

AT TIMES LIKE THIS I SERIOUSLY QUESTION MY OWN BELIEFS

IT IS UNFATHONABLE, UNTHINKABLE THAT AT THIS POINT SOME POLLS SHOW THE REPUBLICANS AHEAD.

It is at times like this that I begin to think “Am I so wrong, could it be that using common sense, reason and facts the wrong way to think?”

There are indications that the Democrats are going to lose the majority in the House of Representatives, perhaps even in the Senate. Polls are sometimes misleading but they have been consistent up to this point in showing tremendous gains made by Republicans in the public opinion and the ability to energize their base and even sway middle of the road independents. ..go figure.

Could this be a fluke or could it be that everyone in America has gone insane? At this time, when the economy has not yet bounced back, when unemployment continues to be a pain in the ass…it should be serving as a reminder of the legacy Republicans left us…go figure.

The way I see it is this: You take away the Black vote, the Latino vote, the gay Vote, the Muslims, the unemployed, those who lost their homes, those who lost their retirement accounts and then you add to that group the seniors who are on Social Security and Medicare and will certainly be affected if the Republicans have their way…why then is it that Republicans are ahead? Go figure

You could argue that elements like Rush Limbaugh and Beck, Palin and Tancredo have been effective in confusing and swaying Americans to think all these lies are true facts. You could conceivably argue that the anti-immigrant and anti-gay sentiment has also been exploited to the benefit of Republicans with laws like “Show Me Your Papers” in Arizona and a voter initiative that took away Gay Californians the right to marry after it was already legal…go figure.

We have some Healthcare reform, not as most of us would have wanted but it is some minor improvement, we have Wall Street and bank reform, not as strong and thorough as some of us would have wanted…but it is still better than nothing. Osama Bin Laden is still on the loose and Republicans would have you believe that it is their efforts that have kept us safe…go figure.

Perhaps we are witnessing is a backlash against meritocracy, intellectualism and competence. Those who are angry are making the well informed, the educated and those who can think for themselves into the object of their rage…go figure.

I know it is complicated but I can’t understand how a majority of Americans are not going to see who caused their misery, who left the country in debt and in an economic crisis. The fact that Republicans got us into an unnecessary war and lied to us could not possibly be overlooked…and yet they are ahead….go figure.

Jeremy Rifkin: "On the Brink of Our Extinction"

Jeremy Rifkin claims that agricultural, especially the beef industry, causes more global warming than all of the transportation industry.

He is really saying that we should all give up meat. If we are dying from our capitalistic affluence from eating grain-fed meat, then it's the natural progression to give it up for the good of all.

In part 2, he says that animal husbandry should be taxed, and we should go to a Mediterranean diet. This diet doesn't totally give up meat, but acts as a side dish, with vegetables, pasta, legumes, and grains being the main dish.

In part 3 he explains that we are beginning to enter a third industrial revolution, so we will have to begin to think differently as we gain a global consciousness. In a global community, everyone depends upon everyone else, where we no longer serve self interests. Sound like Communism to me.

There is a major flaw in this plan. Drought has not been figured into this equation. Perhaps this is part of their eugenics program.

What sort of world will this be in another 20 years? We can only ask, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus!"
